Sri Aurobindo Music College

 

Sri Aurobindo Music College was established as a cultural wing of Sri Aurobindo Anushilan Samity at Suri. Since its inception, it has build up a team of performers and staged a number of performances.

The dance drama Savitri penned by Dr. Jaganmoy Banerjee based on Sri Aurobindo's famous magnum opus was staged a number of times under Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre at places in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha including a performance at Santiniketan and the residence of Rabindranath Tagore at Jorasanko, Kolkata.

The team from Sri Aurobindo Music College has performed in neighbouring states like Odisha and Jharkhand as well as abroad like Bogura and Dhaka in Bangladesh as well as Kathmandu, Nawalparasi and Gulmi in Nepal under invitation of eminent local organizations as well as Indian High Commission and ICCR where their performances have been applauded.

Dance Drama Mahanirvan was performed at Rabindra Bharati University.

The Music College is running one affiliated centre of Rabindra Bharati University on vocal music and drama where junior and senior diplomas are provided.

The organization gives the Ram Shankar Memorial Award to the best literaturist of the year with Scroll and Cash on 15th August every year.

 

Publication of CD/DVD titles by eminent as well as upcoming performers has been a major activity of the organization. These titles published are available for sale from the organization.
