Genesis

The Organisation was established on 5th June, 1990, initially as Sri Aurobindo Society, Suri Branch and included in the network of Sri Aurobindo Society having its headquarters at Pondicherry. Thereafter, from 13th August, 1991, it started to function as a separate registered Society under West Bengal Society Registration Act 1961, with the new name Sri Aurobindo Anusilan Society (Registration Number S/68323) having its registered Office at Seharapara, Suri.

Dr. Jaganmoy Banerjee donated a constructed 3 storied building to the new Society where a Mediataion Hall, Library and Office along with a Computer Room began to function. Gradually a new property was purchased which was named Meera Bhavan - a double storied building with 3 rooms in each floor with kitchen and dug well and a Ladies' Hostel for the poor and needy girls was begun.

More buildings were added to the organisation and an acre of land at Karidhya, about five kilometres from Suri town was received as donation from Satsang, Deoghar where new multi storied buildings were constructed as Eastern and Western Blocks where an Eye Hospital, a Library, a Science Laboratory and a Yoga Care Centre gradually began to function. This came to be the Shalbuni unit of the organization.

In the subsequent years, a single storied building with two parts and a plot of one hectre land were purchased by the organization. A Dairy and other facilities were built up and the process of extension has now become a regular curriculum of the Organisation.

The organization ventured into the cultural front with dramatization of the plays based on works of Sri Aurobindo which it performed at places and received wide applause. Publications and CD/DVD titles were published subsequently.
